Career and Thrive

Sue Tetley

Sue Tetley

In my last nine years working within the NHS as both a general paediatric nurse and a paediatric oncology nurse, I have always worked hard maintaining a positive outlook in everything I am involved with.  Combining my love of nursing with my background in psychology has led me to look at how the two can work side by side.

Having completed the Thrive Programme as a client myself, I am passionate about taking others through Thrive and helping them to overcome any problems holding them back from having the life they have always wanted to lead.  I cannot perform magic, however, if persistent effort and commitment is made into creating positive changes, amazing results can be achieved.

I have had the opportunity working with a diverse range of individuals from adults with depression and anxiety, to children with autism.  In my role as a nurse, I provide emotional support on a regular basis to  the parents and carers of the children on treatment.

Prior to training as a nurse, I completed an undergraduate and post graduate degree in psychology.  I therefore understand how the Thrive Programme is grounded in evidence based research from the fields psychology, including positive psychology and emotional intelligence.  There is no pseudo science or psychological mumbo jumbo.  It is a tried and tested approach that has make a significant positive impact to thousands of people’s lives.  Take a look at the testimonials to see the variety of problems it has helped people overcome.

Physical Illness

I have a specialist interest in helping clients who are struggling emotionally with physical illnesses, be it a new diagnosis or a chronic condition.  There is a proven connection between the mind and body.  Anxiety, depression and stress impact on the body and affect the immune system.  Therefore, if emotions can be handled in a healthy way, this will have a positive impact on the body.  I am also able to help with generalised health anxieties; fear of visiting hospitals, medical appointments or a fear of coping with an upcoming procedure or operation.

Infertility Treatment

Having spent years having treatment myself, I understand what a difficult time this is emotionally and physically.  Thrive is able to provide the strong psychological foundations to manage this difficult period in a person’s life.

Free Consultation

Although I have mentioned several specialist areas, I am able to help clients with many different problems.  The initial consultation is free so we can have a chat in person or via Skype to see if the Thrive Programme can help you.
